Blanca Mejia

Executive Director, Founder

Blanca Mejia is active in the South Omaha community. For six years, she served on the board of directors of the One World Clinic in Omaha. From Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico, Mrs. Mejia earned a bachelor of law degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) and worked as a legal assistant for seven years at Ramirez Law Firm. In her free time, she enjoys reading and exercising at the Kroc Center.

James J. Prouty

President

James J. Prouty is a graduate of Dana College and the current president of the Omaha Business Men’s Association. He is a veteran of the 101st Airborne of the US Army and a lifelong resident of Omaha. Mr. Prouty is the former president of Wessco Graphics, an local family business established in 1905. A service-minded leader, he is also the former president of Cosmopolitan International, a service club whose focus is on raising money for diabetes research in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. James is active at the Salvation Army Kroc Center. He is married to his wife Carol.

Eros Mejia-Hernandez

Vice President

Eros is on track for a life of service and success having received the Creighton Prep James Schwee Award and the Mahatma Gandhi Diversity Award, he was also active in Beta Gamma Sigma International Honors Society for Collegiate School of Business. Further, he was the recipient of three prestigious scholarships: the Buffett scholarship, the Senator Ashford scholarship and a Fraser Stryker Law Firm scholarship and internship. He continues to work with Fraser Stryker PC LLO.

Juan Garcia

Treasurer

Juan Garcia is Generation Diamond’s treasurer. He graduated from Bellevue West High School in 2014. Juan is a banker at Wells Fargo bank. He is a a business major at the University of Nebraska.

Jim Swanson

Board Member

"Swanny" was born and raised in Omaha, graduating from Creighton Preparatory High School, and earning his bachelor's in psychology and secondary education from Creighton University in 1986. After his undergrad at Creighton, Jim worked for four years with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. He returned to Creighton and earned his master's degree in secondary school counseling in 1998. Jim has worked at Creighton Prep since 1991 as a teacher, counselor, coach and mentor. Jim's passion for Latino culture led him to a one-year sabbatical in Guatemala, as well as twelve separate summer service trips to the Dominican Republic through Creighton's Institute for Latin American Concern. Jim also had a one-year sabbatical in Ireland, the homeland of his wife, Frances, from Dublin. He and Frances have two grown children, Dermot and Aidan.

Oscar Ortiz

Board Member

Oscar works as office manager and a legal assistant at TLN Law, LLC, whose advocacy mission aligns with Generation Diamond. He has a long history of service including work with the Nebraska Aids Project (2004-5), Catholic Charities (2006), and the United Way (Leadership Class, 2007). Oscar earned his BFA from Bellevue University in 2013.

DANIEl Mejia-Hernandez

Procurement Agent

Daniel has been involved with Generation Diamond since 2016. He graduated from Creighton Prep in 2020. Daniel is a fulltime student the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He is working towards a bachelor’s in Construction Management, with minors in Business Administration and Spanish. Daniel has an internship at Building Crafts Inc. and also coaches for Evolution Soccer Club.
